All-Star center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs has been voted the National League Player of the Month for August, and first baseman/outfielder Jac Caglianone of the Kansas City Royals has been voted the American League Player of the Month for August. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.
Crow-Armstrong earned his second career honor after winning the award in June of this season. It marks the 23rd time a Cubs player has garnered honors and 2026 marks the first season in which Chicago has won multiple awards since 1990, when Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg won the award in May and June, respectively. Crow-Armstrong is the first Cubs player to win the award multiple times in a single season since its inception in 1973, and is the first player to do so in the National League since Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper won in May and June 2024.
Caglianone won the award for the first time in his career and is the first Royals player to garner honors since his teammate Bobby Witt Jr. in July 2024. In addition to Noah Cameron being named AL Pitcher of the Month for August, it marks the fourth time Kansas City has won both Player and Pitcher of the Month in a single month, joining July 1980 (Hall of Famer George Brett & Larry Gura); September 1981 (Willie Wilson & Gura); and July 1985 (Brett & Bret Saberhagen). It is the second time in 2026 that a club has earned both awards in a single month after Junior Caminero and Drew Rasmussen of the Tampa Bay Rays won the awards in June.

The 24-year-old hit .280 (33-for-118) with 14 homers, 28 RBI, six doubles, a triple, 16 walks, 29 runs scored, six stolen bases, a .703 slugging percentage and a .366 on-base percentage across 28 games.
The Sherman Oaks, California native led the Majors in homers, slugging, extra-base hits (21), total bases (83) and runs scored; tied for second in OPS (1.069); and ranked third in RBI.
The two-time All-Star recorded four multi-homer games in the month, highlighted by a three-homer, six-RBI game on August 29th and a two-homer game on August 17th in which he hit a leadoff and walk-off home run. With his game on August 17th, he became the sixth player in Major League history with a leadoff homer and a walk-off blast in the same game and the first since Chris Young on August 7, 2010, per MLB.com’s Sarah Langs. He also reached the 30-homer mark on August 17th and now has 38 homers on the year to go with his 32 steals, becoming the 10th player (11th occurrence) in Major League history with back-to-back 30-30 seasons and the first to do so with the Cubs. He joined Bobby Witt Jr. and Julio Rodríguez as the only players in Major League history with multiple 30-30 seasons before turning 25 (season age as of June 30th).
The 2025 Rawlings Gold Glover followed his big game on August 17th with a leadoff homer on August 18th, becoming the 13th player since at least 1900 with a leadoff homer in the next team game after hitting a walk-off blast, and the first since Jose Altuve in June 2021, per Langs. Overall, Crow-Armstrong’s 14 homers in August were the most in a single month for the Cubs since Alfonso Soriano clubbed 14 homers in September 2007. He became the first Cub with at least 14 homers and 28 RBI in a single month since Sammy Sosa in August 2001 (17 HR/36 RBI).
The 19th overall pick of the 2020 Draft launched three homers on August 29th and followed with a pair of longballs on August 30th, marking the first time in his career that he hit multiple home runs in consecutive games. Overall, Chicago hammered 62 homers in August to set a franchise record, marking the second-most home runs in a single month in Major League history trailing only the New York Yankees, who hit 74 homers in August 2019. Per Elias, Crow-Armstrong and Alex Bregman (12 HR) became the fourth pair of teammates with at least 12 home runs in the same calendar month, joining Hall of Famer Iván Rodríguez and Rafael Palmeiro in August 1999 for the Texas Rangers; and Roger Maris and Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, who turned the trick twice including June 1960 and July 1961 for the New York Yankees.
The Harvard-Westlake (CA) High School product reached base safely in 25 of his 28 games in August, including each of his first 10 games of the month. Since he started a career-best 28-game on-base streak on May 26th, he leads the Majors with 32 home runs, 107 hits, 72 runs scored, 59 extra-base hits, 235 total bases, a .685 slugging percentage and a 1.093 OPS. Additionally, Crow-Armstrong’s 24 outs above average in 2026 are tied with Bobby Witt Jr. for the most of any player.

The 23-year-old hit .411 (39-for-95) with six homers, 26 RBI, eight doubles, two walks, 17 runs scored, three stolen bases, a .684 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage in 24 contests.
The Tampa, Florida native paced the Majors in batting average and OPS (1.113); ranked second in slugging and hits; tied for third in total bases (65); tied for fourth in RBI; ranked fifth in on-base percentage; and tied for eighth in extra-base hits.
The sixth overall pick of the 2024 Draft registered three games with at least four RBI, driving home four runs on August 8th against the Cubs; five runs on August 14th at the Angels; and six runs as part of a five-hit game on August 27th at Toronto. His big game at the Rogers Centre on August 27th was highlighted by a pair of RBI singles and a two-run homer in the ninth, marking the third game in franchise history of at least five hits and six RBI, joining Eric Hosmer (5 H/6 RBI) on July 26, 2017 and Kevin Seitzer (6 H/7 RBI) on August 2, 1987. Overall, he became the 10th-youngest player in Major League history with at least five hits and six RBI in a game.
The 2026 T-Mobile Home Run Derby participant became the sixth Royals player (seventh occurrence) with at least 39 hits and 26 RBI in a single month, becoming the first to do so since Mike Sweeney had 40 hits and 28 RBI in May 2000. Among Royals with at least 90 plate appearances in a single month, Caglianone is just the seventh player in franchise history to hit at least .400 with at least 14 extra-base hits and the first since Bobby Witt Jr. (.489, 16 XBH) in July 2024. Caglianone is the first to do so with at least three stolen bases since Johnny Damon (.436, 14 XBH, 8 SB) in July 2000.
The University of Florida product hit safely in 21 of his 24 games in August, opening the month on a career-best 13-game hitting streak. During the streak, he slashed .431/.442/.804 with five homers, 18 RBI and a 1.246 OPS, becoming the 11th Royals player (12th occurrence) with a hitting streak of at least 13 games under the age of 24 and the second to accomplish the feat this season after Carter Jensen’s 20-game streak from June 6th-30th.
Caglianone recorded 11 multi-hit games, tied for fourth-most in the Majors in August, and he was one of six players with multiple games of at least four hits, joining Crow-Armstrong, Ezequiel Durán, Gunnar Henderson, Geraldo Perdomo and Tyrone Taylor. Overall, he has 35 multi-hit games on the year.
Crow-Armstrong’s teammate, All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman (.296, 12 HR, 30 RBI, 6 2B, 12 BB, 23 R, 1 SB, .6661 SLG), was the only other player to receive votes for NL Player of the Month.
Others receiving votes for AL Player of the Month included first baseman Pete Alonso (.333, 9 HR, 22 RBI, 3 2B, 11 BB, 16 R, .619 SLG, .407 OBP) of the Baltimore Orioles; catcher Alejandro Kirk (.341, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 2 2B, 12 BB, 9 R, 1 SB, .412 OBP) of the Toronto Blue Jays; Caglianone’s teammate, All-Star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (.306, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 6 2B, 14 BB, 26 R, 6 SB); and Chicago White Sox rookie All-Star Tristan Peters (.320, 6 HR, 14 RBI, 6 2B, 10 BB, 14 R, 2 SB, .414 OBP), who was named AL Rookie of the Month for August.
