Pirates Return to PNC Park for the Eighth Homestand of 2021

The Pittsburgh Pirates return to PNC Park for the first series following the 2021 All-Star break. The eighth homestand of the season includes a three-game series with the New York Mets.

Friday, July 16, 2021 – Pirates vs. New York Mets (7:05 p.m.)

Free Shirt Friday: Tonight, the Pirates host the popular Free Shirt Friday promotion as the first 20,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates 1971 World Series retro tee, presented by Chevy.

Pirates Charities Art Auction: To help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Pirates 1971 World Series win, Pirates Charities has partnered with Pittsburgh artist Cody Sabol to create two original paintings that will be auctioned off at pirates.com/ArtAuction. The auction will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 16 and close at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 23. Sabol and Pirates Charities will have the paintings on display during Friday’s game under sections 130/131. Fans attending Friday’s game are encouraged to come meet Sabol and bid online. All proceeds raised from the artwork will help fund the work of Pirates Charities in our community.

Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, fans 21 and older are encouraged to start the night with the Miller Lite Happy Hour at the Crow’s Nest bar with drink specials and live music with Gary Prisby from the time gates open to first pitch. Fans 21 and older inside PNC Park can visit the Crow’s Nest for a free Vizzy Hard Seltzer sampling during the Happy Hour, while supplies last.

Special Anthem: Tonight’s National Anthem will be performed by trumpeter Benny Benack III, grandson of famed Pittsburgh jazz trumpeter Benny Benack Sr. who wrote the theme song of the 1960 World Series Bet ‘em Bucs.”

Saturday, July 17, 2021 – Pirates vs. New York Mets (7:05 p.m.)

Jim Beam Block Party: Tonight, the Pirates will host a Jim Beam Block Party with special guest The Clintones. The party includes fun on Federal Street with live entertainment, drink specials and more starting at 5 p.m.

Fireworks Night: Join us tonight for another Fireworks Nights at PNC Park! Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats as tonight’s Zambelli Fireworks Show will take place following the final out of the game.

1971 Celebration: Tonight, the Club will welcome back and celebrate members of the 1971 World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates in a pregame on-field ceremony.

On the field: Tonight, all Pirates players and coaches will wear a commemorative 1971 Word Series 50th anniversary patch on their Nike game jerseys. In addition, tonight’s game balls will be adorned with a special 1971 50th anniversary logo.

Sunday, July 18, 2021 — Pirates vs. New York Mets (1:05 p.m.)

All-Star Reynolds: Today, all kids 14 and under entering PNC Park will receive a Bryan Reynolds replica Pirates gray road jersey, courtesy of PNC.

All-Star Teachers: Pirates Charities is proud to partner with PNC and The Grable Foundation to honor three 2021 All-Star Teachers in a pregame on-field ceremony. In total, 18 All-Star teachers will be recognized as the 2021 class of honorees. Winners received a $1,000 grant for their school, in addition to other prizes for being named an All-Star Teacher. Today’s honorees include:

o Brian Clawson – Chemistry/Derry Area High School

o Maria Paul – Special Education/Pioneer Middle School

o Katelynn Tronetti – Art/Eden Hall Elementary

Kids Day: The Pirates are proud to present the return of Kids Days to PNC Park! Come down early and join the fun as the Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, baseball games, face painting, and more.

Burgh Proud: Today, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Kevin Dotson will toss out a ceremonial first pitch as the Steelers prepare to open up training camp this week on the North Shore.

A Broadway Guest: Today, The National Anthem and God Bless America will be performed by Broadway actor (and Sewickley native) Peter Matthew Smith. Smith is currently staring as King George III as a member of the Hamilton Angelica touring cast.
