Pirates Return to PNC Park for the Final Homestand of 2019

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the 13th and final homestand of the season, a six-game stay beginning with a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs and a weekend series with the Cincinnati Reds.

This homestand is highlighted by the Pirates celebration of beloved Pittsburgh Pirate, Steve Blass. The Club’s long-time broadcaster and 1971 World Series hero will retire from the broadcast booth at the conclusion of the 2019 season, his 60th season as a member of the organization.

Tuesday, September 24, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

·       Row of the Game: Tonight, one lucky row will be chosen to receive $25 Pirates gift cards, courtesy of PNC Bank.

·       Pup Night: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present the final of the 2019 Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $36 with additional human tickets available for $36 each. A portion of the proceeds benefit local animal shelters and seats are limited and subject to availability. ·       Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: The Pirates continue the season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team of the game during special home games throughout 2019. Tonight, the Pirates will honor Foundations Baseball as the Play Ball Team of the Game, presented by Nike. Foundations Baseball is a program in Wheeling, WV, for kids 6-10 designed to teach the true fundamentals of baseball and to build a passion for the game.

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

  • Teacher Appreciation Night: In recognition of their hard work and dedication, the Pirates and PNC Bank partnered to offer 500 tickets to teachers from the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
  • Pittsburgh Public School teachers will be recognized in a pregame on-field ceremony that will include a ceremonial first pitch.
  • University Night with Point Park University: Tonight, the Pirates will host a University Night with Point Park University. All fans who purchase University Night tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/PPU hat. This season the Pirates will host University Nights on select dates when students, alumni, staff and fans of local universities are invited to cheer on the Pirates together at PNC Park.   • Military Appreciation Night: As part of today’s Military Day efforts, a group from the Veterans Leadership Program organization will be honored during a pregame on-field ceremony and hosted in the Pirates Charities Suite.
  • Military Day: Come out to support and honor our brave American military service men and women. The Pirates will wear their Military Day jerseys and special caps.

·       50/50 Raffle: Today’s Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will benefit the Veterans Leadership Program.

  • University Night with Duquesne University: Tonight, the Pirates will host a University Night with Duquesne University. All fans who purchase University Night tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/Dukes hat. This season the Pirates will host University Nights on select dates when students, alumni, staff and fans of local universities are invited to cheer on the Pirates together at PNC Park. Friday, September 27, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (7:05 p.m.)

  • Row of the Game: Tonight, one lucky row will be chosen to receive $25 Pirates gift cards, courtesy of PNC Bank.
  • Fields for Kids Night: Tonight, the Pirates Charities 2019 Fields for Kids grant recipients will be honored during a pregame ceremony. This season, Pirates Charities distributed 38 grants, impacting nearly 20 counties over three states through the Fields for Kids program.
  • In addition, PNC Bank has partnered with Pirates Charities to support several of the local Fields for Kids grants.

·       Zambelli Fireworks: Following the game, fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a special Zambelli Fireworks display, Presented by Bradenton, Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key - Florida's West Coast.

  • Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, and every Friday Night home game, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Miller Lite, at the Crow’s Nest from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visit the Arnold Palmer Spiked Bar at the Crow’s Nest for live music as well as discounted cans of Miller Lite, Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy, Blue Moon and Arnold Palmer Spiked.
  • University Night with Slippery Rock University: Tonight, the Pirates will host a University Night with Slippery Rock University. All fans who purchase University Night tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/SRU hat. This season the Pirates will host University Nights on select dates when students, alumni, staff and fans of local universities are invited to cheer on the Pirates together at PNC Park. Saturday, September 28, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (7:05 p.m.)

·       Steve Blass Pregame: Tonight, Steve Blass will be honored in a pregame on-field ceremony on Steve Blass Day at PNC Park. The long-time Pirates broadcaster and 1971 World Series hero will retire from the broadcast booth at the conclusion of the 2019 season, his 60th season as a member of the organization.

·       Two of Steve: Tonight, the first 20,000 fans with paid admission to PNC Park will receive a Steve Blass dual player/broadcaster bobblehead, presented by Guardian Protection.

·       Memorabilia Available: Special items from tonight’s game will be available at the Hunt Auction Kiosk, located behind section 125 on the Main Concourse of PNC Park.

·       Project 34 Day: Today, Pirates Charities and Pirates pitcher Trevor Williams and his wife Jackie, through their Project 34 initiative, will host area patients who suffer from spinal cord injuries, along with their families, for a game at PNC Park. The group will enjoy Pirates batting practice as well as the game from a Pirates World Series Suite. In addition, the Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle will benefit Project 34, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Williams to positively impact the lives of those living with a spinal cord injury by providing necessary medical equipment, assistive devices, and aiding in the cost for physical therapy. Trevor was inspired by the journey of Cory Hahn, a dear friend, former roommate and teammate who is living with a spinal cord injury.

·       Happy Hour: Tonight, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Jim Beam, in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fans can visit the area for discounted Jim Beam drinks, live music and more.

Sunday, September 29, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (3:05 p.m.)

*Fan Appreciation Day*

·       Fan Appreciation Day: Throughout today’s game, prizes will be given out to select ticket holders as part of the Pirates Fan Appreciation Day. Prizes include gift cards, 2020 Pirates season tickets and more. In addition, the Pirates will be announcing seat locations of fans throughout the game who have been chosen for the opportunity to go onto the field post-game and receive a game-worn jersey autographed by a Pirates player.

  • PNC Bank Fan Appreciation Day: Ambassadors from PNC Bank will be on the concourse handing out Aramark vouchers to fans to be redeemed at concession stands throughout PNC Park.
  • Beverly’s Birthdays Cheer Bin Drive: Pirates Charities and PNC Bank will host a special Cheer Bin Drive at PNC Park to benefit Beverly’s Birthdays. Fans are encouraged to bring items such as diapers (size one), new children’s books, diverse baby dolls and Legos to assist Beverly’s Birthdays assembly of cheer bins for their birthday celebrations. Fans are encouraged to bring the items to one of the Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle kiosks throughout PNC Park. All items will be donated to Beverly’s Birthdays to assist in the nonprofit’s mission to provide birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need. All of the children they serve receive a Birthday Cheer Bin on their birthday. This bin is filled with gender and age appropriate gifts.
  • World Series Suites: Today, Pirates Charities will host volunteers and staff from Beverly’s Birthdays in the World Series Suites for the game.

·       Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, baseball games, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A, and more.

·       Kids Backpack: Today, all kids 14 and under will receive a free Kids Pirates backpack, presented by Chevron and the Children's Museum.

·       Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by Rivendale Farms.

·       Scout Day: Today, we join the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands and surrounding councils to celebrate Scout Day at PNC Park. Each ticket purchased through pirates.com/scouts includes Pirates Boy Scout cap and $5 in Loaded Value - good for concessions & merchandise on the day of the game. The first 1,000 Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders to purchase tickets will have the opportunity to go on the field at PNC Park to be recognized during a special pregame warning track salute.

  • All-Star Teachers: Today in a pregame on-field ceremony, the Pirates will recognize the All-Star Teachers for the month of September: Mindy Thomas, Sand Hill Elementary; Suzanne Muncy, Moundsville Middle School; and Matt Dado, New Castle High School. These deserving teachers receive tickets in the Pirates Charities Suite for the game, a personalized jersey, and a contribution of $1,000 to be used in their classroom. This season, the Pirates and Pirates Charities teamed up with Chevron and The Grable Foundation with support from Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and Intermediate Unit One to recognize outstanding teachers in our region and give them the thanks and acknowledgement that they deserve for their contributions to our community. The All-Star Teacher award honors teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of students across the region by providing engaging instruction and curriculum, encouraging lifelong learning, and inspiring a passion for education beyond the classroom and into the future. In addition, Pirates Charities will host in the World Series Suites all 18 teachers who were recognized as All-Star Teachers throughout the 2019 season.
