The Pittsburgh Pirates today recalled infielder/outfielder Ji Hwan Bae from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Right-handed pitcher Ryder Ryan has been optioned to Triple-A to make room for Bae on the 26-man active roster.

Bae was hitting .379 (22-for-58) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, 11 RBI, .471 OBP, .569 slugging percentage and 1.040 OPS in 16 games this month prior to being promoted to Pittsburgh. He also ranked first in the International League in batting (.367) and OBP (.479) and sixth in OPS (1.030) for the season coming into today.

Bae will wear uniform No. 3.
