The Pirates have added outfielder Anthony Alford to the active roster and have recalled infielder Ke’Bryan Hayes from their alternate training site.
Alford was claimed off waivers from Toronto on 8/27 after going 3-for-16 with a homer and three RBI in 13 games with the Blue Jays this season.
Hayes was Pittsburgh’s supplemental first-round selection (32nd pick overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft and will be making his big league debut tonight.
To make room on the active roster, outfielder Jason Martin and left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell were optioned.
