Today, the Pirates made the following roster moves:

• Claimed RHP Peter Solomon off waivers from the Houston Astros – STATS

• He was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
• Ranked as the Astros’ No. 28 prospect by MLB.com.
• Was designated for assignment on Sept. 1.

• To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Colin Holderman (right shoulder soreness) was transferred to the 60-day Injured List  – STATS

• The 40-man roster remains at 40.
