Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated second baseman Rougned Odor from the 10-day Injured List. To make room for Odor on the active roster, the team has placed outfielder Shin-Soo Choo on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to September 8, with a right hand sprain.

Odor is in the starting lineup for tonight’s game against the Angels. He was placed on the Injured List on August 31, retroactive to August 28, with an eye infection. His last game appearance came on August 24 vs. Oakland, as he was scratched from the next day’s lineup due to the ailment. Odor has batted .150 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI in 22 games for the Rangers this season. He also did not play from August 2-6 with right oblique tightness, an issue which did not require a stint on the Injured List.

Choo sustained his hand injury while sliding into home plate in the 4th inning of Monday’s game at Seattle. He underwent X-rays at the park that day, which were negative. The first date he would be eligible to return is September 18. Choo has batted .229 with 5 home runs and 15 RBI in 32 games for Texas this season, including a club-high 23 starts in the leadoff slot.
