Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to today’s series finale against the San Francisco Giants at Globe Life Field:
- Left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford activated from 60-day Injured List
- Left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore placed on MLB Paternity Leave List
The 28-year-old Bradford was placed on the Injured List on March 25 while recovering from left elbow surgery, performed by Rangers Team Physician Dr. Keith Meister on June 25, 2025. The southpaw has made four starts on injury rehab with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock since July 12, posting a 0.90 ERA (1 ER/10.0 IP) with 8 hits allowed, 2 walks, and 16 strikeouts. He last appeared on Thursday for Round Rock vs. Reno, logging 4.0 scoreless frames with 4 hits, no walks, and 7 strikeouts (56 pitches/40 strikes).
Bradford will be seeking his first regular-season Major League appearance since September 25, 2024, as the left-hander missed all of 2025 after experiencing left elbow soreness in Spring Training which ultimately required season-ending surgery. In 34 career games/21 starts for Texas since 2024, Bradford has gone 10-6 with a 4.28 ERA (63 ER/132.1 IP), 1.096 WHIP, and 121 strikeouts against just 25 walks. His 4.84 strikeout to walk ratio is the highest in club history over a Texas pitcher's first 34 career games (min. 75.0 IP), besting current Rangers President, Baseball Operations Chris Young's 3.14 (154 SO/49 BB) mark from 2004-05. The only other MLB pitchers since 2020 to turn the trick are Seattle's George Kirby (6.67), Atlanta's Spencer Schwellenbach (5.46), and Chicago-NL's Shota Imanaga (5.13).
The Aledo, Texas native has spent his entire professional career in the Rangers organization, as he was originally selected by Texas in the 6th round of the 2019 MLB Draft from Baylor University. He made his Major League debut in 2023, logging a 5.30 ERA in 20 regular season games/8 starts before posting a 1.17 ERA across 5 Postseason relief outings during Texas' World Series championship run, the lowest Postseason ERA for a rookie Rangers hurler in club history (min. 5.0 IP).
Gore, 27, is 6-9 with a 4.55 ERA (65 ER/128.2 IP) over 24 starts for the Rangers in 2026, his first season with Texas. He is tied for the American League lead in games started this year, matching Cleveland's Joey Cantillo and New York-AL's Cam Schlittler. The southpaw tossed 6.0 shutout innings in yesterday's win vs. San Francisco and has not allowed a run in his last 12.0 innings pitched. Gore can remain on the MLB Paternity Leave List for up to 3 days.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers have 40 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler and Jose Corniell, LHP’s Jalen Beeks, Robert Garcia, and Jordan Montgomery, INF/OF Michael Helman, and C Danny Jansen).
