Anaheim, Calif. — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to tonight’s series opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium:
- RHP Nathan Eovaldi placed on 15-day Injured List (right posterior elbow inflammation), retroactive to August 9
- RHP Ben Peoples recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
The 36-year-old Eovaldi had been on the Rangers active roster for the entire 2026 campaign, compiling a 10-9 record with a 4.21 ERA (62 ER/132.2 IP), 137 strikeouts, 32 walks, 24 home runs allowed, and a 1.206 WHIP figure in 22 starts. He leads Texas in wins and innings pitched this year, ranking highly among A.L. qualified starters in victories (T5th), strikeouts per walk ratio (8th, 4.28), and strikeouts per 9.0 innings (14th, 9.29). Eovaldi last pitched on Friday vs. Baltimore at Globe Life Field, allowing one run over 5.1 innings in a no-decision. Since joining the Rangers in 2023, the club is 60-38 in his 98 regular season starts, with Eovaldi posting a 45-25 record and 3.38 ERA for Texas.
Peoples, 25, was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday but did not appear for the Express. The right-hander logged 12 relief appearances during his first stint with the Rangers from July 2-August 7, going 0-1 with a 2.19 ERA (3 ER/12.1 IP) and a 1.054 WHIP. Peoples was acquired from Chicago-AL in a minor league trade on June 30, had his contract selected by Texas on July 2, and made his Major League debut on July 4 vs. Detroit, delivering 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, and Jack Leiter, LHP’s Jalen Beeks and Robert Garcia, INF/OF Michael Helman, and C Danny Jansen).
