Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to today’s series finale against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field:
- Right-handed pitcher Emiliano Teodo (#56) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
- Right-handed pitcher Chris Martin placed on 15-day Injured List (right shoulder impingement)
The 25-year-old Teodo (tee-OH-doh) is making his first career appearance on Texas’ active roster and is seeking his Major League debut. He has made 35 relief appearances for Triple-A Round Rock this season, going 3-3 with 5 saves, a 3.76 ERA (17 ER/40.2 IP), and 35 walks against 52 strikeouts, with his most recent appearance coming on Friday at Reno (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R-ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 22 pitches/12 strikes). The right-hander has averaged 99.0 miles per hour on his fastball this season, the highest among Pacific Coast League pitchers (min. 400 total pitches thrown), according to Baseball Savant. Over his last 22 games since May 10, Teodo is 2-2 with 5 saves and a 1.71 ERA (5 ER/26.1 IP), ranking among PCL leaders over that stretch in ERA (1st, min. 20.0 IP), games (1st), and saves (2nd).
Ranked among the top prospects in the Rangers organization by Baseball America (11th) and MLB Pipeline (17th), Teodo is in his 6th professional season after signing with Texas as a minor league free agent in January 2020. He owns a career 23-20 record, 5 saves, and a 3.55 ERA in 141 games/50 starts at five different levels of the Rangers organizational chain. Teodo’s career 12.11 strikeouts per 9.0 figure (447 SO/332.1 IP) leads Texas farmhands since 2021 (min. 200.0 IP).
The 40-year-old Martin made 4 relief appearances for Texas after being activated from the Injured List on July 4, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits in 3.2 innings pitched with no walks and 2 strikeouts. In 16 games with the Rangers this season, the right-hander is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA (14 ER/14.0 IP), 25 hits allowed, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers have 39 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with five players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP Carter Baumler, LHP’s Cody Bradford, Robert Garcia, and Jordan Montgomery, and INF/OF Michael Helman).
BRADFORD AND MONTGOMERY REHAB UPDATES: Left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford has been sent to Double-A Frisco on rehab assignment. Bradford is slated to start for the RoughRiders today at Corpus Christi (first pitch: 2:05 p.m. CT). Additionally, left-handed pitcher, Jordan Montgomery – who is currently on rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock – is scheduled to start for the Express today at Reno (first pitch: 3:05 p.m. CT).
