Rays announce return of Park, Walk and Cheer program
The Tampa Bay Rays announced details for this season of Park, Walk and Cheer, a program that supports law enforcement and local police departments with their community initiatives. The program has grown to benefit multiple counties in the greater Tampa Bay area, with close to 5,000 vouchers distributed during the 2023 season.
"We are excited to, once again, partner with the Tampa Bay Rays on this incredible initiative," said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. "Community-oriented policing is a cornerstone of our department's philosophy, and 'Park, Walk and Cheer' perfectly aligns with that mission. Offering Rays tickets as a reward for good citizenship creates opportunities for officers to connect with residents, especially our youngest, in a fun and positive environment. These interactions develop into the lasting relationships and strong sense of teamwork that help us all make Tampa safer, together."
Park, Walk and Cheer allows officers to reward good citizenship by providing complimentary Rays tickets. The goal is to enhance and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and local communities.
"We are excited to continue our partnership with local law enforcement for the Park, Walk and Cheer program," said Tampa Bay Rays President Brian Auld. "Helping foster positive interactions between our community members and law enforcement aligns with our organization's mission and rewards our young fans for actively contributing to the well-being and betterment of our neighborhoods surrounding Tropicana Field for generations to come."
The program was initially launched with the St. Petersburg Police Department in 2015 and has since expanded to include the following nine counties:
- Charlotte
- Citrus
- Hernando
- Hillsborough
- Manatee
- Pasco
- Pinellas
- Polk
- Sarasota
