August 28th, 2023

The Tampa Bay Rays Gaming Program, in collaboration with Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress and Rare Drop, will host the Sunburst Classic Championship on Monday, August 28 in Orlando. The two winners from this summer’s Sunburst Circuit, “Zazzi” and “Bayko,” will be here in Tampa to compete head-to-head in MLB The Show 23.

“The purpose of our 25th anniversary campaign is not only to connect with our fans by celebrating our storied past, but also to pave a path to the future in exciting and innovative ways,” said Rays Chief Business Officer Bill Walsh. “The Rays Gaming Program is another example of how we continue to try to engage new audiences through technology.”

The two participants in the Sunburst Classic Championship, presented by Orlando Health, will split a $10,000 prize pool, with $8,000 going to the winner and $2,000 to the runner-up. Popular MLB The Show 23 streamers, Austin Thune (@Thuuuuney) and Rich Veit (@ScuffyMcGee) will take over the livestream commentary for all final events.

Each of these three finals will be broadcast live across the Tampa Bay Rays Twitch and TikTok channels. The tournament and live stream will begin at 12:30 p.m. The Rays have partnered with Rare Drop for all tournament-related production.
