Red Sox add outfielder Marcus Wilson to club player pool

BOSTON, MA— The Boston Red Sox today added outfielder Marcus Wilson to their Club Player Pool. 

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement. 

The Red Sox have 60 players in their Club Player Pool.

Wilson, 24, is ranked by _Baseball America _as the Red Sox’ No. 19 prospect. Acquired by Boston from Arizona in April of 2019, the right-handed hitter spent the majority of last season at the Double-A level, batting .269 (104-for-386) and setting career highs in games (119), runs scored (65), total bases (190), doubles (28), home runs (58), and OPS (.850). The Los Angeles, CA, native played in eight games for Peoria of the Arizona Fall League following the 2019 season and was named a Rising Star after batting .333 (10-for-30) with one home run and eight RBI. Wilson has appeared exclusively as an outfielder during his minor league career, making 355 starts in center field, 57 in right field, and 53 in left field while recording 28 outfield assists. Selected by the Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2014 June Draft out of Junipero Serra High School (CA), Wilson has hit .258 (463-for-1,794) with 102 doubles, 15 triples, 40 home runs, 224 RBI, and 273 runs scored in 498 games across six minor league seasons.
