Red Sox claim infielder Taylor Motter off waivers from Colorado Rockies

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today claimed infielder Taylor Motter off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Motter, 31, has played 13 games for the Rockies this season, making two starts at third base and one in right field. The right-handed hitter has also batted .335 (71-for-212) with a 1.220 OPS in 67 games with Triple-A Albuquerque, hitting 24 home runs with 57 RBI and 49 walks. In 154 career major league games with the Tampa Bay Rays (2016), Seattle Mariners (2017-18), Minnesota Twins (2018), and Rockies (2021), Motter has batted .189 (74-for-392) with 15 doubles, 10 home runs, and 37 RBI. During his major league career, he has made 39 starts at shortstop, 17 in left field, 15 at second base, 13 at first base, 10 at third base, and seven in right field.
