Red Sox place right-handed pitcher Kutter Crawford on 15-day injured list

Club Recalls Right-Handed Pitcher Kaleb Ort from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Kutter Crawford on the 15-Day Injured List (retroactive to May 4) with a left hamstring strain. To fill Crawford’s spot on the active roster, the club recalled right-handed pitcher Kaleb Ort from Triple-A Worcester.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Crawford, 27, pitched a scoreless eighth inning in Wednesday’s game against Toronto before exiting with one out in the ninth inning. The right-hander owns a 3.51 ERA (10 ER/25.2 IP) in seven outings (two starts) this season, including a 1.08 ERA (2 ER/16.2 IP) in five relief appearances. In 29 career outings (15 starts) with Boston (2021-23), Crawford has a 5.31 ERA (62 ER/105.0 IP).

Ort, 31, was optioned to Worcester on April 30. The right-hander has posted a 7.30 ERA (10 ER/12.1 IP) in 12 outings with Boston this season after making his first career Opening Day roster. Selected by the Red Sox in the Triple-A phase of the 2020 Rule 5 Draft from the New York Yankees, he owns a 6.59 ERA (30 ER/41.0 IP) in 38 career appearances, all with Boston (2021-23).
