Red Sox recall right-handed pitcher Kyle Barraclough from Triple-A Worcester

Club Options Left-Handed Pitcher Chris Murphy to Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Kyle Barraclough from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, the club optioned left-handed pitcher Chris Murphy to Worcester following yesterday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Barraclough, 33, has allowed one run in 3.1 innings over two games with the Red Sox this season. The right-hander is also 8-0 with a 2.43 ERA (15 ER/55.2 IP) in 10 games (nine starts) with Worcester. Signed by Boston in June, the California native owns a 3.60 ERA (111 ER/277.2 IP) in 290 career Major League games with the Miami Marlins (2015-18), Washington Nationals (2019), San Francisco Giants (2019), Minnesota Twins (2021), Los Angeles Angels (2022), and Red Sox (2023).

Murphy, 25, tossed 4.0 innings yesterday against the Dodgers, allowing six runs with four strikeouts. The left-hander has posted a 4.64 ERA (22 ER/42.2 IP) in 14 games with Boston this season, his Major League debut. Selected by the Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has also recorded a 7.01 ERA (34 ER/43.2 IP) in 12 games (nine starts) with Worcester in 2023.
