Red Sox send cards and deliver flowers to senior centers in celebration of Valentine's Day; virtual celebration planned for Sunday, February 14
BOSTON, MA – In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Red Sox today delivered flowers to various senior centers and assisted living centers in South Boston, Roslindale, Quincy and Jamaica Plain, and will host a virtual celebration for dozens of senior centers and assisted living centers in the Greater Boston area on Sunday, February 14.
In addition to the flower deliver, throughout the week more than 540 cards were mailed to residents of Goddard House in Brookline, Sherrill House in Jamaica Plain, Peterborough Senior Center in Boston, Concord Park in Concord, and Brookdale in Quincy. The cards were written by members of the Red Sox front office as part of a Valentine’s Gram letter writing campaign for this celebration.
On Sunday, February 14, the club will host an hour-long virtual Valentine’s Day celebration at 2 p.m. Reverend Liz Walker of the Roxbury Presbyterian Church will kick off the event, which will include love poems read by Poet Laureate Dick Flavin, love songs performed by Red Sox organist Josh Kantor, and an appearance by Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster. Members of over 40 senior and assisted living centers across the Greater Boston Area have been invited to attend the virtual event.
