Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher Adrian Sampson has been placed on unconditional release waivers in order to pursue a 2020 opportunity with the Lotte Giants in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Sampson went 6-8 with a 5.89 ERA over 35 games/15 starts for the Rangers last season, ranking among team leaders in strikeouts (3rd, 101), starts (4th) and wins (4th). He was one of seven MLB pitchers to log at least 15 starts and 20 relief outings in 2019.

Following today’s transaction, the Rangers have 39 players on their Major League roster.
