50/50 Raffle $70,000 guaranteed jackpot on-sale; Royals Charities 5K&10K at Kauffman Stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- As the Royals head to Minnesota, Boston and Detroit for a long road trip, the Club will continue to give back to the Kansas City community. A second, larger guaranteed 50/50 Raffle jackpot will go on-sale online (August 1), and Royals Charities will host a drive for Community Services League (August 3) and the annual 5K&10K Run/Walk (August 10). Please see below for more details. 

Monday, August 1

· 50/50 Raffle On-Sale presented by Edelman & Thompson – To celebrate the I-70 Series when the Club hosts the St. Louis Cardinals, Royals Charities will offer a guaranteed minimum $70,000 jackpot for the 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson on Tuesday, August 13. During the special “70 for 70” jackpot, the winner will win at least $35,000, or half of the total proceeds, with the other half benefiting Royals Charities to be distributed in the fall grant cycle to nonprofit organizations. Fans located in Missouri can purchase tickets for the raffle on-line now at www.royals.com/5050.  The winning number will be drawn after the 6th inning of the game on August 13.

Saturday, August 3

· Community Services League Back to School Fair - Royals Charities will present a check to Community Services League in support of the annual Back to School Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 404 N. Noland Rd., Independence, Mo. Sluggerrr and members of the K-Crew will also make an appearance from 11:30 a.m. to noon. CSL provides services to Eastern Jackson County communities in reaching their potential by providing immediate relief to people in need, assessing their situations and providing solutions that lead to economic stability. In 2019, CSL expects to provide more than 2,500 Jackson County children with school supplies. Families can pick up backpacks and supplies starting at 9 a.m. 

Monday, August 5

· Ban Johnson All-Star Game – The Royals host the Ban Johnson All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium. The Club has hosted the event, which features college ballplayers from the area that play in this summer wood-bat league, since 1969. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.

Friday, August 9

· TeamSmile Event – The TeamSmile program will provide complimentary oral health assessments, dental services and instruction to low-income children in the Kansas City area. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Royals Hall of Fame at Kauffman Stadium, TeamSmile will provide children with dental treatment in a fun and non-threatening environment in the hopes of educating them on the significance of good dental hygiene. Royals alumni, members of the K-Crew and Sluggerrr will meet participants from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and join Royals Charities to present TeamSmile with a donation. Sun Life Financial sponsors the TeamSmile event in Kansas City.  

Saturday, August 10

· Royals Charities 5K & 10K – Royals Charities will host the annual 5K & 10K Run/Walk presented by Price Chopper at Kauffman Stadium. The event begins at 8 a.m. Fans who register will run on the warning track at The K, a commemorative t-shirt, a ticket voucher and complimentary food and beverage following the race. Participants can register at royals.com/run. Packet pickup and on-site registration will happen at Price Chopper located at 1030 W. 103rd St., Kansas City, Mo. from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, and again outside the Gate C ticket office from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. the morning of the race.
