Royals sign 12 international free agents
KANSAS CITY, MO (January 23, 2021) – The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has agreed to terms on minor league contracts with 12 international free agents, including eight from the Dominican Republic, two from Venezuela, one from Nicaragua and one from the Netherlands. The international signing period, which was scheduled to begin on July 2, 2020, was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, opened on Jan. 15 and will end on Dec. 15, 2021.
Among the Royals’ signings, shortstop Daniel Vasquez is ranked No. 12 among MLB.com’s Top 30 international prospects. The full list of international free agents signed by the Royals today is below:
