Texas Rangers sign RHP Buck Farmer to Minor League contract

Farmer will be assigned to Round Rock

Boston, MA—The Texas Rangers today announced the club has signed free agent right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer to a minor league contract. He will be assigned to Triple-A West Round Rock.

Farmer, 30, had no record and a 6.37 ERA (35.1 IP, 40 H, 25 R-ER, 21 BB, 37 SO) in 36 relief appearances with the Detroit Tigers in 2021. He was designated for assignment on August 15 and released by Detroit on August 17. Farmer was 0-2, 3.97 in 9 appearances with Triple-A East Toledo from May 11-June 13.

Originally selected by Detroit in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Draft, Farmer made his Major League debut with the Tigers the following year. He is 15-21, 5.33 in 241 games/21 starts with the Tigers from 2014-21. In 2019, Farmer went 6-6, 3.72 in a career high 73 appearances with Detroit.
