Additionally, the Twins will add left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes as their 27th man for the doubleheader in Detroit today. The 25-year-old has made 11 starts for Triple-A St. Paul this season, going 5-2 with a 3.88 ERA (58.0 IP, 25 ER), 19 walks and 50 strikeouts. The Sumter, South Carolina native was a fourth-round pick by the Twins in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Clemson University. He will start game one for the Twins today and wear uniform number 85.
To make room for Minaya and Barnes on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer (left elbow inflammation) and right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak (right middle finger strain) to the 60-day Injured List.
