September 3rd, 2022

CHICAGO, IL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder Jorge Polanco on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to August 31) with left knee inflammation.

Polanco has hit .235 (88-for-375) with 16 doubles, 16 home runs, 56 RBI, 64 walks and 54 runs scored in 104 games for the Twins this season. This marks his second stint on the Injured List in 2022, after missing time from June 13-28 due to low back tightness.

To replace Polanco on the 28-man roster, the Twins have selected the contract of infielder Jermaine Palacios from Triple-A St. Paul. Palacios has played in 101 games for the Saints this season, hitting .283 (111-for-392) with 28 doubles, 14 home runs, 60 RBI, 70 runs scored, 34 walks, a .341 on-base percentage, a .462 slugging percentage and an .803 OPS.

To make room for Palacios on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred catcher Ryan Jeffers to the 60-day Injured List. Jeffers has missed the Twins’ last 39 games after undergoing right thumb surgery in July.
