Twins reinstate Michael Pineda from 10-day injured list

Ian Gibaut optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

CLEVELAND, OH – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Michael Pineda from the 10-day Injured List.

Pineda, who has missed the Twins’ last 20 games with a left mild oblique strain, has made 17 starts for Minnesota this season, going 4-8 with a 4.13 ERA (85.0 IP, 39 ER), 17 walks, 73 strikeouts, 1.24 WHIP and a .264 (88-for-333) opponent batting average.

To make room on the roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut to Triple-A St. Paul. Gibaut, who had his contract selected on August 27, appeared in three games for the Twins, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings pitched (2.70 ERA) with two walks and four strikeouts.
