Twins sign pitcher Hansel Robles

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed right-handed pitcher Hansel Robles (pronounced HAND-sahl ROH-blays) to a one-year contract through the 2021 season.

Robles, 30, spent the 2020 season with the Los Angeles Angels, appearing in 18 games, striking out 20 batters and walking 10 in 16.2 innings pitched. In 2019, the six-year veteran posted a record of 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA (72.2 IP, 20 ER) and 23 saves in 27 opportunities over a career-high 71 games.

The Banao, Dominican Republic native was originally signed as an international free agent by the New York Mets in 2012 and has posted a career record of 24-18 with a 3.91 ERA (333.2 IP, 145 ER), 27 saves, 134 walks, 360 strikeouts and a .230 opponent batting average in 313 games with the Mets and Angels.

The Twins now have 36 players on their major league roster: 19 pitchers, four catchers, six infielders and seven outfielders.
