RICK SCHLESINGER AND CECELIA GORE NAMED TO MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL’S 2024 POWER BROKER LIST

Pair of Milwaukee Brewers Front Office Executives Recognized for Leadership Efforts

January 26th, 2024

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers are proud to share that President – Business Operations Rick Schlesinger and Executive Director – Brewers Community Foundation Cecelia Gore have been named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2024 Power Broker list. The dynamic leaders in the Milwaukee Brewers front office have long established their leadership prowess throughout the city and state.

The Power Broker list recognizes “people who others turn to when they need to get something done, whether it’s a business deal, community project or raising money for a great cause.” The list is compiled by Milwaukee Business Journal reporters, editors and readers’ suggestions.

Schlesinger enters his 22nd season with the Brewers and sixth in his current position after being promoted on January 23, 2019. He has previously held roles with the organization as executive vice president of business operations (2003-10) and chief operating officer (2011-18). Schlesinger oversees the organization’s business operations, including finance, human resources, information technology, legal, sponsorships, marketing, ticketing, business analytics, broadcasting, communications, stadium operations and non-baseball special events. In addition, he oversees American Family Fields of Phoenix (the team’s Spring Training complex) and the business operations of the Carolina Mudcats, the organization’s Low-A affiliate. Schlesinger is a member of Major League Baseball’s Youth Baseball and Labor Policy Committees.

Schlesinger has led efforts to prioritize and constantly improve the fan experience at American Family Field. Despite playing in Major League Baseball’s smallest market, the success of the team and the ballpark environment have placed the Brewers in the upper tier in attendance, ranking ninth among the 30 MLB clubs since 2007.

Recently, Schlesinger joined elected officials in a successful effort to secure a generational lease extension for the Brewers at American Family Field. The new lease and associated funding to maintain and improve the ballpark ensures that American Family Field will be home to the Brewers through at least 2050.

Leading the helm at Brewers Community Foundation, the charitable arm of the Brewers, Gore is a revered pillar in the greater Milwaukee nonprofit sector. Harnessing the pride, passion and commitment of fans, players and other supporters, Brewers Community Foundation extends financial support to nonprofits around the state that provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs, with a particular focus on low-income and disadvantaged youth and their families in greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin. During her tenure, the Foundation has raised more than $55 million since its inception in 2010.

Gore enters her 15th season with the Brewers leading the philanthropic efforts for the Club. In addition to Brewers Community Foundation, Gore commits her energy and passion to multiple organizations. She serves as a director and member of the Audit Committee for CG Schmidt, a family-owned private construction company; Town Bank, a Wintrust Community Bank and Chair, Risk Management. Her nonprofit boards include: Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Wisconsin’s largest community foundation; Sojourner Family Peace Center, the largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin; Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, which was founded by the late Henry Aaron to inspire young people to develop their skills and pursue their passions; and Alverno College, a 130-year-old women’s college located in Milwaukee from which Gore received her bachelor’s degree and MBA. Gore is co-chair of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s $700 million Greater Together campaign, which is part of the organization’s vision of building “a Milwaukee for all,” with an emphasis on racial equity and inclusion.
