What’s Happening this week at Phillies-Braves series, June 28-30

First Phillies’ African American Player John Kennedy to be Honored, The Voice Winner Cam Anthony to Sing National Anthem, and Richie Ashburn’s Grandson to be Recognized as a Hometown Hero; Plus, Pride Night, Dead & Company Night and MLB All-Star Balloting continues

On Tuesday, June 28, the Phillies will kick off their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. Here’s a look at all the promotions and fun surrounding the games, as well as other ‘know before you go’ information.

1. Celebrate Philadelphia’s rich LGBTQ+ culture at the sixth annual sold-out Pride Night presented by The GIANT Company on Tuesday, June 28, at the 7:05 p.m. game.

· Watch as the Pride Flag is flown in Ashburn Alley and the Liberty Bell lights up with pride colors in celebration and recognition of the LGBTQ+ community.

· A portion of the gross proceeds of the Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 drawing presented by DraftKings will benefit ACLU of Pennsylvania and AIDS Fund.

· Enjoy yard games presented by The GIANT Company before and during the game at the break behind Section 210.

· In addition, retired Marine Sergeant Major Marty Kenny, who continues to serve military and their families through the Weekly Flight organization, will have the honor of changing third base at the end of the third inning as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero.

2. As part of the 17th annual African American Heritage Celebration taking place before Wednesday’s 7:05 p.m. game, the Phillies will honor John Irvin Kennedy, who became the first African American player in franchise history on April 22, 1957. The on-field event will also include a tribute for the 50th Anniversary of Philadelphia International Records, and Philadelphia native Cam Anthony, who won last year’s 20th season of The Voice, will sing the national anthem.

· In honor of the night, Kennedy’s 11-year-old great-grandson Elijah Cooper will throw a ceremonial first pitch.

· Also taking the field will be Caliph Gamble and Leon Huff Jr., who are the sons of Philadelphia International Records co-founders Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. Caliph Gamble will throw a ceremonial first pitch.

· Fans will also be able to enjoy pregame performances by the Artistic Force Drumline (First Base Plaza) and Sankofa (Third Base Plaza).

3. Enjoy the sold-out Dead & Company Night at Thursday’s 6:05 p.m. game! Plus, Richie Ashburn’s grandson will be honored as the Rothman Hometown Hero.

· Jawn of the Dead, a Grateful Dead tribute band, will be playing at Section 148 when gates open at 4:35 p.m.
Also, be on the lookout for the Grateful Dead bears, who will dance with the Phanatic in the seventh inning.

· Fans can also enjoy Herr’s Chip sampling inside the Left Field Gate before and during the game.

· Plus, Police Sergeant Taylor Ashburn, who is the grandson of Phillies Baseball Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn, will be honored as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero and will change third base at the end of the third inning. Sergeant Ashburn is credited with saving the lives of two children from a house fire in Chester County on May 21.

4. Chevrolet MLB All-Star Balloting continues. Help your favorite Phillies advance! **Fans can vote for their favorite Phillies from now until 1:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. The MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be held on Tuesday, July 19, and broadcast on FOX Sports. Vote on phillies.com/allstar and the MLB Ballpark App(iOS and Android devices only).

· Traffic Alert! Due to construction, your commute from Citizens Bank Park may be impacted throughout the series. Plan ahead for travel and expect delays. Log on to www.511pa.com, www.511nj.orgor call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions. Transit services are also available; for a SEPTA schedule, please visit www.septa.org.

· Safety guidelines: In accordance with the City’s safety guidelines, fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks in indoor spaces at the ballpark including the Diamond Club, retail stores, elevators and restrooms. Fans are reminded to bring their own mask if they will be at one of the previously mentioned areas at Citizens Bank Park.

· Parking lots: Parking for Phillies games is cashless. Methods of payment include credit/debit cards and mobile payment (Apple Pay and Google Pay). To expedite entry, pre-paid parking passes may also be purchased prior to the game. Tailgating lots (M, N & O) will open 5 hours prior to first pitch and non-tailgating lots will open 3 hours prior.

· Access Tickets & More: Use the free MLB Ballpark app as your guide to Citizens Bank Park to access tickets, forward to friends, use the interactive concourse maps and enjoy games.

· Gate Openings: All gates open 90 minutes before game time.

· To expedite entry: Guests are prohibited from bringing bags, including backpacks, into the ballpark. Only clutch purses (12”x 12” x 1”), fanny packs, medical bags, clear or solid tote bags and diaper bags will be permitted into Citizens Bank Park.

· Broadcast: Every game this series will be broadcast on NBCSP and available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app. All games will broadcast on 94 WIP and WTTM 1680.
