· Recalled right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning from the Schaumburg training facility;
· Reinstated outfielder Adam Engel from the injured list;
· Designated infielder Cheslor Cuthbert for assignment;
· Optioned right-handed pitcher José Ruiz to Schaumburg.
Dunning, 25, entered the season rated by MLB.com as the No. 6 prospect in the White Sox organization. He has gone 17-13 with a 2.74 ERA (81 ER/266.0 IP) and 300 strikeouts (10.2 per 9.0 IP) in 49 career starts over three minor-league seasons (20016-18). He originally was selected by the Nationals in the first round (29th overall) of the 2019 draft out of the University of Florida.
Dunning, who has no major-league experience, will wear uniform No. 51.
Engel, 28, was placed on the injured list on Monday. He is batting .263/.317/.500 (10-38) with three doubles, two home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored over 14 games this season.
Cuthbert, 27, has played in one game with the Sox in 2020, going 0-1.
Ruiz, 25, has thrown two scoreless IP over two appearances with the White Sox this season.
Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
