White Sox announce four roster moves

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:

  • Reinstated RHP Mike Clevinger from the 15-day injured list;
  • Returned INF Elvis Andrus from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list;
  • Designated INF Hanser Alberto for assignment;
  • Optioned RHP Jesse Scholtens to Charlotte.

Clevinger, who will start tonight’s game vs. the Tigers, has been on the injured list since May 18 with right wrist inflammation. He is 3-3 with a 4.56 ERA (24 ER/47.1 IP) and 40 strikeouts in nine starts this season, his first with the White Sox.

Andrus, who appeared in four rehab games with Charlotte, has been on the injured list since May 13 with a left oblique strain. He is hitting .201 (27-134) with four doubles, one home run and 13 RBI in 39 games this season, his second with Chicago.

Alberto is batting .220 (18-82) with five doubles, three home runs, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored in 30 games (20 starts) with the White Sox in 2023.

Scholtens has appeared in five games (one start) with the Sox this season, going 0-2 with a 3.24 ERA (6 ER/16.2 IP) and nine strikeouts. He is 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA (17 ER/38.1 IP), .230 (32-139) opponents average and 42 strikeouts (9.86 per 9.0 IP) over seven starts with Charlotte in 2023.
