White Sox announce three roster moves

MILWAUKEE – Prior to tonight’s game at Milwaukee, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:

· Reinstated outfielder Nomar Mazara from the injured list;

· Optioned catcher Yermín Mercedes to the Schaumburg training facility;

· Transferred right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert to the 45-day injured list.

Mazara, 25, has been rehabbing in Schaumburg since July 28 after being placed

on the injured list on July 21. He was acquired from the Texas Rangers in exchange for minor-league outfielder Steele Walker on December 19, 2019.

Mazara, hit .268 (115-429) with 27 doubles, 19 home runs, 66 RBI, 69 runs scored and a .469 slugging percentage in 116 games with Texas in 2019. He established career highs in average, slugging percentage, OPS (.786) and runs scored. Mazara’s average home run distance of 416 feet in 2019 was the ninth-highest in the major leagues according to Statcast (minimum 15 home runs).

Mercedes, 27, made his major-league debut as a pinch-hitter yesterday at Kansas City, going 0-1. He was recalled from Schaumburg on Saturday.

Lambert, 25, was placed on the injured list on July 29 with a right forearm strain.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
