CLEVELAND – Prior to tonight’s game at the Cleveland Guardians, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:

•    Selected the contract of RHP Lane Ramsey from Class AAA Charlotte;
•    Claimed RHP Brent Honeywell off waivers from the San Diego Padres;
•    Placed RHP Gregory Santos on the Bereavement List.

Ramsey, 27, is 4-4 with a 5.50 ERA (22 ER/36.0 IP), six saves and 48 strikeouts (12.0 per 9.0 IP) in 32 relief appearances with Charlotte this season. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Ramsey is limiting right-handers to a .232 (19-82) average. Ramsey, who has not allowed a run in four of his last five appearances, has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 68.

A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ramsey joins Minnesota’s Bailey Ober as the only active-roster players listed at 6-feet-9 or taller. He is 15-20 with a 4.72 ERA (110 ER/209.2 IP), 23 saves and 214 strikeouts in 150 career games (four starts) over five seasons (2018-19, ’21-23) in the White Sox system. Ramsey originally was selected by the Sox in the 23rd round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma.

Honeywell, 28, is 2-4 with a 4.05 ERA (21 ER/46.2 IP), three holds and 42 strikeouts in 36 relief appearances with San Diego this season. A native of Augusta, Ga., Honeywell has worked at least 1.0 IP in 31 of his appearances, and is limiting right-handers to a .237 (23-97) average.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Honeywell signed with San Diego on January 6 after spending the 2022 season in the Oakland minor-league system. He is 2-4 with a 4.41 ERA (25 ER/51. IP) and 46 strikeouts in 39 career appearances (two starts) with Tampa Bay (2021) and the Padres (2023). He originally was selected by the Rays as a competitive balance selection in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Walters State (Tenn.) Community College.

Santos is 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA (16 ER/52.1 IP), two saves and 52 strikeouts over a team-high 47 games this season. Santos will remain on the Bereavement List for a minimum of three days and not more than seven.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster increases to 40.
