May 16th, 2023

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox returned left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list, and optioned right-hander Nick Padilla to Charlotte.

Crochet made six rehab appearances between Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham after starting the season on the injured list to continue his recovery from ulnar collateral ligament replacement surgery performed on April 5, 2022. Crochet, who has not pitched in a regular season game with the White Sox since October 1, 2021, is 3-5 with a 2.82 ERA (17 ER/60.1 IP), 12 holds, 73 strikeouts (10.89 per 9.0 IP) and a .206 opponents average in 59 relief appearances over two seasons with the Sox (2020-21). He originally was selected in the first round (11th overall) of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee.

Padilla allowed two earned runs over 2.0 IP in his only appearance with Chicago on May 10 at Kansas City.
