World Baseball Classic takes over Miami

Fans can join the party ahead of World Baseball Classic at the Family Fest Concert at Lummus Park in Miami Beach on March 10 along with special giant baseball art pieces across the South Florida community and a themed baseball cart

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins and World Baseball Classic are teaming up to throw a can’t-miss party on Friday, March 10 at Miami Beach, with live performances by local bands and musicians. The World Baseball Classic & Miami Marlins Family Fest Concert will take place at Lummus Park at 6th Street and Ocean Drive from 6-10 p.m. as part of Miami Beach Live!, a month-long initiative of fun organized by the City of Miami Beach. The event, which is free and open to all guests, marks the start of the party for the 2023 World Baseball Classic in Miami, which begins on Saturday, March 11 at loanDepot park.

The artist lineup for World Baseball Classic & Miami Marlins Family Fest Concert will feature local favorite artists, with Spam Allstars, PALO! and Tito Nieves. The Spam Allstars have been performing for more than 20 years, brining an authentic Miami sound wherever they go, which includes Europe and South America. PALO! is a Grammy nominated band that has been named Best Band and Best Latin Band by the Miami New Times. Tito Nieves, who was born in Puerto Rico and raised in the United States, is one of the most prominent salsa singers in the industry.

Additionally, the Marlins and World Baseball Classic have dropped vibrant art installations across South Florida designed by local artists – Rigo Leon, Victor Gosa, and Muta Santiago. The giant baseball sculptures are representative of the baseball culture paired with the South Florida flair. The locations for the installations include loanDepot park, Domino Park – Little Havana, Coconut Grove, and Dolphin Mall. The installations feature a QR code that creates a custom augmented reality filter with interactivity, allowing individuals to show their fandom.

Also turning heads in the community with be a World Baseball Classic-themed baseball cart that will be traveling the streets of South Florida!

The World Baseball Classic action runs from March 11-21 at loanDepot park, starting with Nicaragua vs. Puerto Rico at 12 p.m. and followed by Dominican Republic vs. Venezuela at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 11. loanDepot park is the first venue in tournament history to host games in all three rounds. The first round at loanDepot park features Pool D, which includes 2017 Finalist Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Israel, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
