The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has entered into a three-year partnership extending through the 2019 season with Grant Thornton.
Under the agreement, the Lower and Upper Suite areas of Globe Life Park in Arlington will be named the Grant Thornton Suite Level.
"The Rangers are very excited to add Grant Thornton to our family of corporate partners," said Jim Cochrane, Texas Rangers Senior Vice President, Partnerships and Client Services. "Grant Thornton has a long history as one of the nation's top accounting firms with a large presence here in North Texas. They are also demonstrating a role as a great community partner with their involvement at our new Texas Rangers Youth Academy. We look forward to a strong relationship."
Grant Thornton will be making a donation to the new Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex presented by Toyota as well as hosting events and clinics at that facility.
The Rangers, Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association and Dallas-based Mercy St. are partnering to build the new state-of-the-art facility, which will provide free (or reduced cost) and year-round opportunities for North Texas youth, on the 17-acre site at the intersection of Hampton and Bickers.
When totally completed, the facility will include five fields and an Academy building. Currently, the Clayton Kershaw Challenge Field, Josh "Hambone" Hamilton Field, and the Mimi's T-Ball Field on the south side of the facility are already open and being utilized for games and clinics. The entire complex, which includes the 39,000 square foot Globe Life Indoor Training Center, is expected to be completed by late summer of 2017.
Grant Thornton will also be hosting a spring training experience later this week at the Rangers' complex in Surprise, Arizona and will have a company-wide event at Globe Life Park in Arlington this summer.
"It's a grand slam for Grant Thornton to be named as a new sponsor of the Texas Rangers," said Wally Gruenes, Grant Thornton's Texas/Oklahoma market territory managing partner and Dallas office managing partner. "We look forward to kicking off a new season of America's favorite pastime."
