On Tuesday, the Rangers announced the signing of infielder Logan Forsythe (#41) to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training camp.

Forsythe, 32, split last season with the Dodgers and Twins, batting .232 with 2 home runs and 27 RBI in 120 games. He had a .304 (24-79) average with runners in scoring position. He was traded by Los Angeles to Minnesota on July 31 in the deal involving second baseman Brian Dozier. Forsythe compiled a .273 batting average and .791 OPS figure over his final two seasons with Tampa Bay in 2015-16, averaging 140 games and 18 home runs in those campaigns. 

Primarily a second baseman in his Major League career, he has also seen significant action at third base with lesser time at first base, shortstop, and the outfield. The right-handed batter owns a career .248 batting average and .700 OPS figure spanning 8 big league seasons with San Diego (2011-13), Tampa Bay (2014-16), Los Angeles-NL (2017-18), and Minnesota (2018). He was originally selected by the Padres in the supplemental first round (46th overall) of the 2008 June draft out of the University of Arkansas.

With today’s additions, the Rangers have 68 players on the club’s spring training roster: a full 40-man major league roster, along with 28 non-roster invitees.
