The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Ernesto Frieri to the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations.
Frieri has been assigned from Triple-A Round Rock to Seattle's Tacoma club in the Pacific Coast League.
Frieri was signed by the Rangers as a minor league free agent on June 15 and had his contract purchased by Texas on June 17 after just one appearance at Triple-A Round Rock. The 32-year-old right-hander was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA (4 ER/7.0 IP) in 6 relief appearances for the Rangers and was designated for assignment on July 4. Frieri was outrighted to Round Rock on July 7, where he has gone 0-1 with a 1.42 ERA (1 ER/6.1 IP) in 7 relief outings overall.
