Red Sox Agree to Terms with Seven Players on One-Year Contracts

December 3rd, 2020

The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • The Red Sox agreed to one-year contracts with right-handed pitchers Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, Austin Brice and Chris Mazza, outfielder Yairo Muñoz, catcher Kevin Plawecki and left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez for the 2021 season, thus avoiding salary arbitration.
  • In addition, the Red Sox will tender 2021 contracts to all 25 remaining unsigned players on their major league roster.
  • Prior to the Red Sox acquiring right-handed pitcher Joel Payamps, he had agreed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on a one-year contract.

Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Boston’s 40-man roster is at 40. Fifteen players are already under contract for 2021: Matt Barnes, Andrew Benintendi, Xander Bogaerts, Ryan Brasier, Austin Brice, Nathan Eovaldi, J.D.
