BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox have appointed right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell as the club’s 27th man for tonight’s game against the Cincinnati Reds at Fenway Park. Per Major League Baseball rules, both teams are permitted to add an extra player for tonight’s game.
Criswell, 28, has appeared in five games this season for Boston, allowing nine runs (six earned) in 9.0 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 2.27 ERA (11 ER/43.2 IP) with a 1.08 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 10 games (nine starts) for Triple-A Worcester. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 4.68 ERA (76 ER/146.0 IP) in 43 career Major League games (20 starts) with the Angels (2021), Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23), and Red Sox (2024-25).
