Red Sox Select 30 Players on Final Day of 2019 June Draft

The Boston Red Sox today concluded their participation in Major League Baseball’s 2019 First-Year Player Draft with 30 additional selections in rounds 11-40.

Over the three days of the draft, Boston selected 21 pitchers (15 right-handers, six left-handers), 10 infielders, seven outfielders, and two catchers. Of the 40 players drafted, 27 are from college and 13 are from high school.

In the 34th round, Boston selected first baseman Ryan Berardino, the grandson of former Red Sox coach Dick Berardino and Red Sox Hall of Famer Dwight Evans, who both currently serve as player development consultants in the organization. Ryan has appeared in 108 games for Bentley University in the past three seasons (2017-19), batting .309 (127-for-411) with a .387 on-base percentage. A native of Sudbury, MA, he attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and Cheshire Academy.
