Dodgers activate Hill, place Ferguson on injured list

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today activated left-handed pitcher Rich Hill from the 10-day injured list. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, the Dodgers placed left-handed pitcher Caleb Ferguson on the 10-day injured list.

Hill, 39, who was sidelined with a left knee sprain, will return to the mound today to make his 2019 debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The former Michigan Wolverine enters his fourth season with the Dodgers after being acquired in a trade with the Oakland Athletics on August 1, 2016. In three seasons with the Dodgers, he has compiled a 26-15 record with a 3.30 ERA (111 ER/302.2 IP) with 355 strikeouts. In his 14-year Major League career, he is a combined 61-41 with a 3.91 ERA (382 ER/878.2 IP) with 932 strikeouts against 355 walks.

Ferguson, 22, is in his second season with the Dodgers and he is a combined 7-3 with a 3.48 ERA (24 ER/62.0 IP) with 73 strikeouts in 42 games (four starts). On the season, he is 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA (5 ER/13.0 IP) with 14 strikeouts in 14 games (one start).
