Luis Robert, Konnor Pilkington named White Sox Minor League Players of the Month

Class AA Birmingham outfielder Luis Robert has been named the Chicago White Sox Minor League Player of the Month for April, and Class A Kannapolis left-hander Konnor Pilkington has been named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members.

Robert, 21, batted .453 (34-75) with five doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 21 runs scored, a .512 on-base percentage and .920 slugging percentage over 19 games in April with Class A Winston-Salem. He was promoted to Birmingham on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Robert, who is currently rated by MLBPipeline.com as the No. 37 prospect in baseball, led the Carolina League at the time of his promotion in average, home runs, RBI, on-base percentage, slugging, OPS (1.432), extra-base hits (16) and total bases (69). A native of Guantánamo, Cuba, he signed with White Sox as an international free agent on May 27, 2017.

Pilkington, 21, went 1-0 with a 2.01 ERA (5 ER/22.1 IP), 28 strikeouts and a .130 (10-77) opponents average over four starts in April for the Intimidators. He currently ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts (34) and opponents average (.137), eighth in WHIP (0.77) and is tied for eighth in IP (27.1 IP).

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Pilkington is rated by MLBPipeline.com as the No. 20 prospect in the White Sox organization. He appeared in eight games (seven starts) between the Arizona Rookie League White Sox and Advanced Rookie Great Falls last season after being selected in the third round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.
