The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired outfielder Kevin Pillar from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later or cash consideration and international amateur signing bonus pool space.

  • Pillar, 31, has appeared in 30 games with Boston this season and has batted .274 (32-for-117) with seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 13 RBI, one stolen base and eight walks … was signed by Boston to a one-year contract after spending a majority of the 2019 season with San Francisco, where he batted .264 (157-for-595) with 37 doubles, three triples, 21 home runs and 81 RBI in 156 games … in parts of eight seasons with Toronto (2013-19), San Francisco (2019) and Boston (2020) has batted .261 (830-for-3,389) with 200 doubles, 12 triples, 80 home runs, 331 RBI, 84 stolen bases and 137 walks across 881 career games … the West Hills, Calif., native was originally selected by Toronto in the 32nd round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Dominguez Hills.

 The Rockies currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
