Rockies announce 2019 Opening Day roster

Team embarks on 27th Major League season today in Miami

Colorado Rockies finalized their 2019 Opening Day 25-man roster today by placing left-handed pitcher Chris Rusin (mid-back strain) and right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela (blister infection, right heel) on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 25.

Five players are on the Opening Day roster for the first time: outfielder David Dahl, infielder Garrett Hampson, right-handed pitcher DJ Johnson, left-handed pitcher Harrison Musgrave and outfielder Raimel Tapia.

The Rockies open their 27th Major League season today in Miami, with Denver native Kyle Freeland scheduled to make his first career Opening Day start. Following a four-game series in Miami, the Rockies travel to Tampa to play their first Interleague series of 2019 with three games against the Rays. Colorado returns to Coors Field on Friday, April 5 for the home opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 2:10 p.m. MDT.
