Colorado Rockies recall infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque

PHOENIX – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque and have designated left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn for assignment.

Valaika, 26, will be making his third stint on the active roster this season … has batted .069 (2-for-29) with three runs scored, one double, four walks and 15 strikeouts in 17 games … in 44 games with Albuquerque, has batted .339 (63-for-186) with 12 doubles, a career-high 16 home runs and 39 RBI … since making his Major League debut with the Rockies in 2016, has batted .207 (73-for-352) with 42 runs, 18 doubles, 16 home runs, 47 RBI and 20 walks across 208 career games.

Dunn, 34, has gone 1-0 with a 7.13 ERA (17.2 IP, 14 ER), six walks and 15 strikeouts in 28 appearances this year … since 2010, he ranks third among all left-handed pitchers with 551 appearances … ranks 13th among all pitchers in appearances over that span … in 121 appearances for Colorado since 2017, is 6-1 with a 5.93 ERA (85.0 IP, 56 ER), 52 walks and 84 strikeouts … since making his Major League debut in 2009, he is 34-26 with a 4.00 ERA (436.0 IP, 194 ER), 224 walks and 473 strikeouts across 555 appearances with the New York Yankees (2009), Atlanta Braves (2010), Miami Marlins (2011-2016) and Rockies (2017-19).

The Rockies currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
