Rockies select Butera’s contract; recall Cuevas from Triple-A; Senzatela reinstated from 10-day IL

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of catcher Drew Butera from Triple-A Albuquerque, have recalled outfielder Noel Cuevas from Triple-A, and have reinstated right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela from the 10-day injured list (he will start for Colorado this evening in San Diego). Right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte and outfielder Yonathan Daza have been optioned to Triple-A Albuqeruque, and catcher Chris Iannetta has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right lat strain.

Butera, 35, was signed to a Minor League contract on March 25 … has played in five games for Albuquerque, batting .400 (6-for-15) with three runs, two doubles, one RBI, six walks and two strikeouts … last played in the Major Leagues with Colorado in 2018 after being acquired via trade from Kansas City in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto on Aug. 31 of last year … played six games at catcher and four at first base for the Rockies, batting .214 (3-for-14) with two runs, one home run, three RBI, two walks and two strikeouts … in his career across nine seasons with Minnesota (2010-13), Los Angeles-NL (2013-14), Los Angeles-AL (2015), Kansas City (2015-18) and Colorado (2018), the Evansville, Ind., native has batted .201 (246-for-1223) with 112 runs, 53 doubles, five triples, 19 home runs, 111 RBI, 82 walks and 281 strikeouts … appeared for Colorado in the 2018 NL Wild Card Game, and went 0-for-3 with a walk … he will wear #25. Cuevas, 27, was optioned to Triple-A on March 18 and will be making his first appearance with the Rockies this season … has played in 11 games for the Isotopes this season and is batting .378 (17-for-45) with 13 runs, three doubles, one triple, four home runs, 14 RBI, six walks, eight strikeouts and two stolen bases … has multiple hits in four of his last five games, including his first career cycle on April 10 at Reno what was part of a 5-for-5 day … made his Major League debut with the Rockies on April 22, 2018, and appeared in 75 games for the Rockies last season … a native of Camuy, Puerto Rico, he batted .233 (34-for-146) with 16 runs, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, 10 RBI, six walks, 24 strikeouts and one stolen base for Colorado in his debut season. Senzatela, 24, will start for the Rockies tonight in San Diego … was placed on the 10-day injured list on March 28 (blister infection, right heel) and made his first rehab appearance with Albuquqerque on April 6, going five innings while allowing two runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts … made his second and final rehab appearance on April 11, pitching two scoreless innings with one hit allowed and one strikeout … the native of Valencia, Venezuela, made his Major League debut on April 6, 2017, and has gone 16-11 with a 4.56 ERA (225.0 IP, 114 ER), 77 walks and 171 strikeouts across 59 career appearances (33 starts) for the Rockies … he made his first career postseason start in Game One of the 2018 NLDS at Milwaukee, and allowed two runs over five innings with two walks and one strikeout in the 3-2 Rockies loss. Almonte, 24, was recalled from Albuquerque on April 7 and made three relief appearances … allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits across 4.1 innings pitched … has made one appearance for Albuquerque this season, pitching one inning and striking out the side in order to earn the save on April 5 vs. Salt Lake … made his Major League debut for the Rockies on June 21 of last season vs. New York-NL, and posted no record with a 1.84 ERA (14.2 IP, 3 ER), four walks and 14 strikeouts over 14 relief appearances in his first Major League season … was originally drafted by the Angels in the 17th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, and was acquired by the Rockies from the White Sox via trade on Nov. 24, 2015, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle. Daza, 25, was recalled from Triple-A on April 9 and made his Major League debut that night, starting in right field and batting leadoff … went 0-for-11 with one walk and four strikeouts across three games in his first Major League stint … has played parts of nine Minor League seasons, and is a career .310 (698-for-2255) hitter with 337 runs, 141 doubles, 24 triples, 19 home runs, 318 RBI, 110 walks, 328 strikeouts and 84 stolen bases … the native of Maracay, Venezuela, was originally signed by Colorado as a non-drafted international free agent on Oct. 20, 2010. Iannetta, 36, is on the injured list for the first time since 2017 (concussion), the fourth time in his career … has batted .207 (6-for-29) with two runs, two doubles, one home run, two RBI, three walks and 14 strikeouts in 10 games with the Rockies this season … the Providence, R.I., native, who was originally drafted by the Rockies in 2004 and debuted for them on Aug. 27, 2006, is a career .230 hitter (794-for-3448) with 431 runs, 173 doubles, 11 triples, 136 home runs, 483 RBI, 561 walks, 984 strikeouts and 11 stolen bases over parts of 14 seasons with Colorado (2006-11, 2018-19), Los Angeles-AL (2012-15), Seattle (2016) and Arizona (2017).
