Rockies select contract of left-handed pitcher Phillip Diehl

Right-handed pitcher Seunghwan Oh placed on 10-day injured list with left abdominal strain

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Phillip Diehl and have placed right-handed pitcher Seunghwan Oh on the 10-day injured list with a left abdominal strain, retroactive to June 7.

  • Diehl, 24, is making his first career appearance on the Major League roster … has no record and a 2.30 ERA (27.1 IP, 7 ER), eight walks and 29 strikeouts across 23 combined appearances between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque … began the season with Hartford, where he combined for 13.1 scoreless innings of work with three walks and 12 strikeouts prior to his May 4 promotion to Albuquerque, the first Triple-A stint of his career … was acquired by Colorado from New York-AL in exchange for outfielder Mike Tauchman on March 23 … the Cincinnati, Ohio, native attended his first Major League Spring Training with the Yankees this year … was originally selected by New York-AL in the 27th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana Tech … in parts of four Minor League seasons, has combined to go 16-6 with seven saves, a 2.72 ERA (221.2 IP, 67 ER), 63 walks and 279 strikeouts … he will wear #64.   • Oh, 36, will be making his first stint on the injured list in his Major League career … has gone 3-1 with a 9.33 ERA (118.1 IP, 19 ER), six walks and 16 strikeouts across 21 relief appearances for the Rockies this season … the native of Jeongeup, South Korea, was acquired by the Rockies from Toronto on July 26 of last season in exchange for Minor League outfielders Chad Spanberger and Forrest Wall, as well as Minor League right-handed pitcher Bryan Baker … across parts of two seasons for the Rockies, has gone 5-1 with a 5.67 ERA (39.2 IP, 25 ER), 13 walks and 40 strikeouts … was originally signed by St. Louis on February 26, 2016 following an 11-year career in South Korea and Japan in which he made 571 career relief appearances … in parts of four Major League seasons with St. Louis (2016-17), Toronto (2018) and Colorado (2018-19), has combined to go 16-13 with a 3.31 ERA (225.2 IP, 83 ER), 56 walks and 252 strikeouts.
