SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The San Francisco Giants announced the following additional hires to their 2024 Major League coaching staff under new manager Bob Melvin:  

**Pitching Coach - Bryan Price **

**Bullpen Coach - Garvin Alston **

**      Bryan Price**, 61, begins his first season in the Giants organization after spending the past two seasons with the San Diego Padres as a senior advisor to the Major League staff. Price, who was born in San Francisco and attended Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley and the University of California, Berkeley, has a coaching career that has spanned three decades. He was manager of the Cincinnati Reds from 2014-2018, and pitching coach for the Seattle Mariners (2000-2005), Arizona Diamondbacks (2006-2009), Reds (2010-2013), and Philadelphia Phillies (2020). Price worked under Giants manager Bob Melvin for six seasons in Seattle (2003-2004) and Arizona (2006-2009) and won Major League Coach of the Year honors from Baseball America in 2007. He spent 11 years in Seattle’s player development system as both the pitching coordinator (1998-1999) and pitching coach for Memphis (1997), Port City (1996), Everett (1995), Bellingham (1992 & 1994), Riverside (1993), Peninsula (1991), and the rookie-level Arizona League team (1989-1990).  

**      Garvin Alston**, 51, embarks on his fifth season in the Giants organization after spending the previous four seasons as the pitching coach for the Sacramento River Cats. The 2024 season will mark his 19th season coaching at the professional level. Alston worked at USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline in 2019 before his Giants stint. He served as Minnesota’s Major League pitching coach in 2018 after splitting 2017 between the Padres (Pitching Rehab Coordinator) and A’s (Major League Bullpen Coach) organizations. Alston spent most of his coaching career with the A’s, serving as a minor league pitching coach from 2005-2008. From 2009-14 he was the A’s Minor League rehab pitching coordinator and their minor league pitching coordinator in 2015. In 2016 he was Arizona’s Major League bullpen coach.
