The Tigers Celebrate the 13th Annual Fiesta Tigres on Saturday, August 11

DETROIT - To recognize and honor the contributions of Latino players and coaches to the game of baseball, on Saturday, August 11 the Tigers will celebrate the 13th annual ¡Fiesta Tigres!, sponsored by MillerCoors, when the Tigers take on the Minnesota Twins at 6:10 p.m. Current Tigers players with Latino heritage will be honored as part of the celebration.

FRIDAY
Día en el Parque: The ¡Fiesta Tigres! festivities will launch with Día en el Parque with Detroit Tigers infielder Jeimer Candelario. Over 70 youth baseball and softball players from the Southwest Aztecs Baseball organization and the Clark Park Coalition will have a special day in the park beginning at 12:00 p.m. that includes playing catch on the Comerica Park field and an exclusive Q&A session with Candelario at 1:15 p.m. This is a private event (media encouraged to attend).
¡Fiesta Tigres! Luncheon: The Tigers will host a community luncheon, in partnership with MillerCoors, to celebrate the contributions of the Latino players to the game of baseball. Select members of The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, along with youth baseball players from the Southwest Aztecs will also be in attendance. As part of the luncheon, the Tigers and MillerCoors will recognize Detroit Tigers first base coach Ramon Santiago for his leadership both on and off the field and his exemplary role as a Latino baseball player and coach. The luncheon is a private event (media encouraged to attend).
SATURDAY
Returning to ¡Fiesta Tigres! in 2018, Detroit Tigers uniformed personnel will wear a special alternate uniform with Tigres on the chest, the Spanish translation for Tigers. Additionally, Detroit Tigers "Tigres" t-shirts will be available for purchase in The D Shop. This year's shirt will feature all current Tigers Latino players and the flags of their countries for $38.00.
Fans can purchase the ¡Fiesta Tigres! ticket package, which includes a game ticket, ¡Fiesta Tigres! T-shirt and a donation to Raices Mexicanas.
The first 10,000 fans 21-and-older will receive a ¡Fiesta Tigres! Hat, courtesy of MillerCoors.
¡Fiesta Tigres! pregame activities will feature live entertainment on the concourse from salsa and merengue bands including Orquesta Sensacional, Mariachi Gallos de Oro, Sean Blackman, Venezuela Tambor Y Son, Los Primos and Tumbao Bravo and tango dancers from the Argentine Tango Club.
Prior to the game, there will be a festive, on-field ceremony to pay tribute to the Detroit Tigers Latino players and coaches. The on-field ceremony will include a Mexican folkloric dance performance by Raices Mexicanas and Ballet Folklorico de Detroit, a tribute video and a presentation of the flags representing all current Latin Major League Baseball players and their countries.
A limited number of copies of the special ¡Fiesta Tigres! edition of Mi Gente Magazine will be distributed after the game.
