SATURDAY, APRIL 6

RICHARD BLEIER TO APPEAR AT POINT BREEZE CREDIT UNION IN WESTMINSTER

On Saturday, April 6, Orioles reliever RICHARD BLEIER will make an appearance at the Point Breeze Credit Union in Westminster (405 Englar Road, Westminster, MD, 21157) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET. Bleier will sign autographs and greet fans. The event is free of charge and open to the public and the media. 

WTTR “BIRDS ARE BACK” RALLY

The annual “Birds are Back” rally presented by Orioles Radio Network affiliate WTTR Radio (1470 AM) will take place at St. John Catholic Church (43 Monroe Street, Westminster, MD, 21157) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Orioles reliever MIGUEL CASTRO and former Oriole STEVE JOHNSON, will attend the rally to sign autographs and greet fans. 

“A CELEBRATION OF FRANK”

In memory of Orioles Legend and National Baseball Hall of Famer, FRANK ROBINSON, the Orioles will host a celebration of life at Oriole Park beginning at 6:15 p.m. prior to the 7:05 p.m. game against the New York Yankees. The program will include a video tribute and a collection of notable guest speakers to honor the memory of Robinson. Guest speakers are subject to change but are scheduled to include Orioles Legends and Baseball Hall of Famers BROOKS ROBINSON and JIM PALMER, as well as Orioles Hall of Famer BOOG POWELL and National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum President JEFF IDELSON. Additionally during the pregame ceremony, Acting Baltimore City Mayor, JACK YOUNG, will proclaim April 6, 2019, as “Frank Robinson Day” in Baltimore City.  

BIRDLAND COMMUNITY HERO: Noah Smock 

Executive Director of Baltimore Community ToolBank, NOAH SMOCK, will be honored as Saturday’s Birdland Community Hero. Smock, who has served as Executive Director since 2014, has helped serve hundreds of community organizations with tools, equipment and expertise to empower their dynamic work, and has deepened service offerings by providing opportunities for community networking and on-site environmental education at the ToolBank facility in Southwest Baltimore City. The Orioles will also make a $2,500 donation to the Baltimore Community ToolBank in support of the Birdland Community Heroes program. Since joining the organization in 2014, the ToolBank has served over 212,000 individuals with tools and equipment for their community projects. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 7

ORIOLE BIRD BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND KIDS’ OPENING DAY

Originally hatched on April 6, 1979, out of a giant egg at Memorial Stadium, the Orioles will honor the Oriole Bird’s milestone birthday in conjuction with the fifth annual Kids’ Opening Day presented by Weis Markets.  

The Oriole Bird will be joined by friends from the Mid-Atlantic region, including Poe from the Baltimore Ravens, Sherman from the Delmarva Shorebirds, Ferrous from the Aberdeen IronBirds, Louie from the Bowie Baysox, Testudo from the University of Maryland, True Grit from UMBC, and others. The Bird and his mascot friends will celebrate with fans before the game in the Kids’ Corner by Gate C with a giant birthday cake. 

Kids’ Opening Day will also feature a kids-only Orioles Lunch Bag presented by Weis Markets, available to the first 7,500 fans ages 14 and under. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for children ages 14 and under to be selected to participate in pregame experiences. On their way into the ballpark, nine randomly selected young Orioles fans will be chosen to take the field with the Orioles starters for the national anthem, and one child will help deliver the lineup card during the pregame exchange at home plate. 

Additionally, ELLE WALASAVAGE, a 13-year-old from Schuylkill Haven, Pa. will perform God Bless America during the seventh-inning stretch.   

PREGAME CONCERT AND NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMER: Renee Blair

Kids and their families can enjoy a pregame musical performance from independent country recording artist, RENEE BLAIR. Originally from St. Louis, Blair has spent the past few years writing in Nashville. She returns to Oriole Park after performing last season as part of the “Friday Fireworks & Music” series. Blair will also perform the national anthem prior to the game.   

BIRDLAND COMMUNITY HERO: Tyler Stallings 

TYLER STALLINGS, a seven-year-old from Halethorpe, Md., will be recognized as Sunday’s Birdland Community Hero. Recently featured on NBC’s Little Big Shots , Stallings, the CEO of Kid Time Enterprises, assists veterans by creating “hero packs,” which provide hygiene products and other necessary items to homeless veterans. The Orioles will also make a $2,500 donation to the Maryland Center for Veteran Education & Training in support of the Birdland Community Heroes program.  

MILITARY APPRECIATION PROGRAM

Military members from Fort George G. Meade will enjoy the game in a suite, experience a meet-and-greet with players, and receive a T-Shirt and cap as part of the Orioles’ Military Appreciation Sunday Suite Program, presented by GEICO. 

KIDS RUN THE BASES

Sundays are family days at the ballpark, when all fans ages 4-14 will be able to participate in a postgame Kids Run the Bases, presented by Weis Markets.
