Twins Reinstate Buxton, Gonzalez From Injured List

Cave, Wade Jr. Optioned to Rochester

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated outfielder Byron Buxton and infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez from the 10-day Injured List.

Buxton, who missed the Twins last 13 games with a right wrist contusion, is hitting .266 (55-for-207) in 65 games this season, with 21 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 38 RBI, 40 runs scored and a .851 OPS. Gonzalez, who missed the Twins last nine games with a right hamstring strain, is hitting .255 (59-for-231) in 63 games this season, with 11 doubles, nine home runs, 26 RBI, 28 runs scored and a .743 OPS while playing games defensively at first base (9), second base (2), third base (36), shortstop (1), left field (7), right field (12) and designated hitter (2).

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned outfielders Jake Cave and LaMonte Wade Jr. to Triple-A Rochester. Cave, who has appeared in 28 games this season for the Twins, went 4-for-33 with a home run in his last 10 games since being recalled. Wade Jr. made his major league debut last night, batting ninth and playing right field.
